Stateless to Nation State: Notes on Dystopia
This work interrogates the standard engineered urban/ rural space, in this case, the enclaves created historically by the kings and then post-independence. With its unique eccentricities, functioned as one self- contained country inside another, the product of the interaction would be a source of discovery for both the artists and the audience. With excavation and archival retrieving as the most commonly spoken-about tropes today, could there be other ways to illuminate that which is beneath?
Through looking at the arts, ecology and community program, we ask people about aesthetics, the cultural and biodiversity of their local neighbourhood. This project is aimed to increase dialogue within and between communities about the impact of cultural differences, migration, climate chaos, biodiversity loss and the destruction of habitat, to break down negative cultural stereotypes and strengthen intercultural understanding. This can attract masses and local inhabitants who regularly visit these sites in person or global media or are in a shadow zone to rediscover and significantly shift their mind maps.
This was one of the rarest occasions in history when India and Bangladesh had resolved a complex and long-pending border dispute without a single drop of blood. Now would it end seven decades of uncertainty for thousands of citizens living in enclaves on the "wrong" side of their homeland's border?
